Bluewhite64 Linux 11.0-LiveCD-r1

I am pleased to announce the first revision for the Bluewhite64 11.0-LiveCD.

This release uses the AuFS (another unionfs - great stability and features) along the Linux kernel version 2.6.20.1. Also, includes NTFS read/write support (ntfs-3g), DigiKam-0.9.0 for digital photo management, slackpkg-2.09 and qtswaret-0.1.5.3 for package management, Amarok 1.4.5, Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.2 and much more. Also, with this release, the lipstik style/theme will become the LiveCD default theme along with the nuvoX icons theme and Moodin (Engine) boot splash.

Bluewhite64 Linux 11.0 Live CD

Announcing the availability of the Bluewhite64 Linux 11.0 Live CD.
Bluewhite64 11.0 Live CD runs entirely from CD and includes almost all packages from Bluewhite64 11.0, including updated packages from the patches directory. The Live CD was created using Linux Live 5.5.0 scripts (http://www.linux-live.org/) and uses the Unification File System (unionfs - http://www.am-utils.org/project-unionfs.html ).

You will not see any differences between running this Live CD and installing Bluewhite64 11.0 Linux on your hard drive. You can run the same software from the Live CD, for your server or workstation, in just a few seconds.

Bluewhite64 Linux will turn 5 months old on November 1st, 2006.

This is the first Bluewhite64 Linux stable release after a 5 months of development and maintenance !
Thanks to all who helped make this release possible!

Bluewhite64 Linux 11.0 includes the Linux 2.6.17.13 kernel (2.6.18 kernel in the testing/ directory) with support for IDE, SATA, SCSI and RAID controllers. Also, supports GCC 3.4.6 and Glibc 2.3.6 with NPTL (Native POSIX Thread Library), Ext2, Ext3, ReiserFS, XFS and IBM`s SGI filesystems, six window managers including the latest KDE 3.5.4 and XFce 4.2.3.2, updated development tools, the Subversion version control system, the Mozilla Firefox browser and Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 email and news client, SeaMonkey 1.0.5, Apache 1.3.37 webserver with php-4.4.4 (php-5.1.6 in extra/ directory), Mysql 5.0.24a and much more.

* install CD #4 - source part two;
* install CD #5 - source part tree.

Bluewhite64 11.0-rc4 released!

With this release candidate, Bluewhite64 Linux is shipping with the latest stable Linux Kernel version 2.6.17.11 built with GCC 3.4.6 along the GNU C library version 2.3.6 with NPTL support. Udev 0.97 is ready to detect and load your device drivers at boot, Apache 1.3.37 with PHP 4.4.4 (PHP 5.1.6 in the extra/ directory) and Mysql 5.0.24 are built to easily set up a LAMP server. Also, you will find a modularized Xorg version 6.9.0 along with two of the most advanced desktop environments available today: Xfce 4.2.3.2, a fast and lightweight but visually appealing and easy to use desktop environment, and KDE 3.5.4, the latest version of the award-winning K Desktop Environment.
